If you’re taking medications to treat inflammatory arthritis in your back and you smoke, you may want to look into a new Swiss study that suggests you may not be benefiting as much from your medications as you could be.
The American Diabetes Association estimates that two-thirds of people with diabetes have high blood pressure or take blood pressure medication. Left untreated, high blood pressure in diabetic patients can lead to significant health problems. Researchers may have found a way to help. A new review, published this month in the Journal of the American Medical Association, suggests that type 2 diabetics taking high blood pressure medications are less likely to suffer from heart attacks, strokes or die early.
The Affordable Care Act requires Americans who do not currently have health insurance to purchase it either directly from a health insurance company or through a health insurance exchange like Covered California. Those needing to purchase insurance, or make changes to an existing policy have until February 15th, when the Open Enrollment period ends.
